James (5-3) vs. Nick (4-4)
Projected Winner: James
Actual Winner: Nick
My team is like Jekyl and Hyde. Entering this week, I thought I had a shot at a high score with great matchups. Instead, I barely miss the Poopsie. This happens when I get my hopes that I might have a contender. The fantasy gods will not allow me to have any peace. They demand angst and pain. That is the price of being the Commissioner. The Commanders decided to show up on defense this week, resulting in Caleb looking like the rook he is, while Kyler went off. If I start him, he will bust more times than not, but he will go off if he is on my bench. What to do? I thought the Jets had figured out that their best chance of winning is to get the ball in Breece's hands. Nope. Jets are going to Jet. FML. Having Mason was fun for the first four weeks, but he faded fast, and now CMC will be back after the bye. My RB depth is getting pretty sus. It's incredible how fast you can go from overconfident to the pits in fantasy football. The win helps Nick keep some distance between him and Ashlyn who could make things interesting after her trade. There's still a long ways to go before the playoffs.
Gary (2-6) vs. Justin (4-4)
Projected Winner: Justin
Actual Winner: Gary
This is the upset of the week! Justin suffered a brutal loss to Gary's normally anemic scoring team. I am not worried about Justin. He will always be in the hunt for the playoffs. Gary's team still sucks, but they caught Justin in an off-week. It happens to the best of us. It's an empty victory for the Milkman as he has no chance of finishing in the top two of the Bros division. Gary is death on wide receivers—Hollywood, Shaheed, and now Diggs. The brutal year of wide receiver injuries continues. I am just happy Justin lost so I didn't lose my top position in the Beards Division. I can use all the help I can get.
Steve (3-5) vs. Jordan (5-3)
Projected Winner: Jordan
Actual Winner: Jordan
Once again, Jordan has built another contender for the BBB Belt. Everything is bouncing his way. Even Kyle Pitts has been resurrected as a TE1! Could it finally be his year? He's scored 140+ in three of the last four games. He is on a heater! Steve's team has also been on a run, scoring almost 130 or more points in his previous four games. He would have a shot at the playoffs if he were in his normal division...the Broads. The Bros Division would be giving the Beards a run for the most competitive division, but it has Gary in it. Jordan's only weakness was WR2, but with Adams getting cornerback attention, Garret Wilson is freed up to perform better now if the Jets don't implode rest of season.
Cory (6-2) vs. David (6-2)
Projected Winner: David
Actual Winner: David
Cory had a good week, but it wasn't enough to stop East Bound and Down, who is trucking over the league with his fourth straight win. The scary part is his team should only get stronger in the next few weeks when Mike Evans and CMC return. David leaned into the National TE Day meme and was rewarded with both Kraft and Otton getting double digit points in his lineup. Tracy took over the Giants' backfield but left with a head injury late. Worst case, Tracy is out a week with a concussion. Cory's loss knocks him out of the #1 ranking. It's a short-term setback until Nico returns to dominate. The early odds are on a Jordan vs David championship matchup. Until then, I will see if I can knock Cory down another peg next week.
Travis (2-6) vs. Linda (5-3)
Projected Winner: Linda
Actual Winner: Linda
Death, taxes, and Travis getting the Poopsie for the 3rd time in 8 weeks. Travis is setting the bar lower than ever for fantasy futility in the BBB League. Stroud keeps losing his best wide receivers. Not like there aren't other options on the waiver wire, but Travis is putting in minimal effort in a lost season. With most of his bench not even playing, it was hard not to screw up his lineup decisions, but he did bench Shakir for Lockett. His only solace is that Linda had a high score, so nothing he could have done would make any difference. Linda was coasting to an easy win when Lamb went ballistic in garbage time to propel her past Ashlyn for most points this week. With Cory and Justin having off weeks, it moves Linda back on top of the Total Points race.
Ashlyn (2-6) vs. Paul (4-4)
Projected Winner: Paul
Actual Winner: Ashlyn
My projection was before the blockbuster trade with David which saw her ship out CMC and Evans to get Stevenson, Brian Thomas, and Devonta Smith. They accounted for 59 total points! She had the points on her bench for high score but after the season she's had she was grateful for the win. It did come at a cost as Brian Thomas got injured and will be out for 3 or so weeks. Her schedule is brutal, though, facing the Beards division quartet. She took down Paul. Let's see how she competes against the rest of the division in the coming weeks. The top 3 teams in the Beards Division lost this week. The standing is closer than ever entering the second half. I may still be on top, but I will find some way to muck it up again this year.
