It's hard to believe we are almost halfway through the regular season. Injuries have been devastating. Hambone got off to a fast start but cracks larger than Nick's butt are starting to show. Another loss, and he will be headed towards being a Shambone. Steve is clinging to life and fighting to stay in contention until Puka can return. It's an uphill climb. As usual, the Beards Division is super competitive, with all teams at .500 or above. The way players have been dropping things can change instantly, so I hope even the struggling teams can keep their spirits up, stay involved, and fight until the end. I expect nothing less.
James vs. Gary
I owe Gary an apology. Over the past seven seasons, Gary has been the target of my relentless trash talk. He's always been a good sport, but it seems I've gone too far. Now, he can no longer take it, as it seems he has abandoned his team. It also could be his 50 - 69 overall record in the league. Or maybe it's because he has the lowest seasonal points for total, averaging 1,645.68 points per season for a measly 98.41 points per game average. Or perhaps it's his 3 - 6 record against me. I've tried to help Gary. I give post-draft input on his many draft pick mistakes. I try to remind him when he constantly leaves players in his starting lineup who aren't playing. But, alas, it just hasn't been enough to improve Gary's fantasy football game. I am afraid he has finally given up and thrown in the towel. So, Gary, I am sorry. I am sorry you suck so bad at fantasy football. I love having you in the League. It's an easy win. But if you are going to keep on losing at least try to make it look like you aren't trying to. Have some dignity and self-respect as you lose once again to me this week.
Linda vs. Justin
Two strong contenders face off. Linda took a hard L from me last week. She needs to bounce back, but it is not going to be easy against Justin. His 3-3 record hides how well his team has been scoring. He's been on the wrong side of the schedule. Linda is limping with Lamb and DJ Moore, both on bye. Of courese, my self-interests are in play. I offered her Amon-Ra St. Brown for Cee Dee Lamb in a trade. As of this writing, she is still pondering it over. I would love nothing more than to stick it to Justin bye swapping Top 5 wide receivers and our keepers this past year. I can afford to eat the bye week since I play Gary this week. It's a little ballsy on my part since Dallas has looked terrible so far this year, but they did last year. I am counting on another bounce-back year. No risk it, no biscuit. The Lions have more weapons than Dallas, so the upside probably isn't as high for Amon-Ra, but neither is the downside. As long as Henry is healthy, Justin will be the favorite every week since Henry can drop 30 points at any time. Linda needs Dobbins to fall off and split more carries with Vidal. If Linda accepts the trade, I like her chances to win since Amon-Ra is a far superior flex play than Hunter Henry. If she declines, then may God have mercy on her soul, for I will not.
Nick vs. Jordan
Matchups don't get any closer for two 3-3 teams. Jordan is on a hot streak, winning three straight. But, no Aaron Jones, who could be out for a while. You don't trade for an RB if you think your starter will play soon. I don't care what the team says. Najee may have shown life last week, but now he has to face the Jets D. Good luck with that fat Najee. The Davante Adams trade to the Jets is a mixed bag for Jordan since he has Garrett, Adams, and Bowers. It'll be better than Adams sitting with the phantom hamstring. It's still too early to see if JT plays or not. Nick has Jones' handcuff so he is safe if JT doesn't play since I seriously doubt Aaron Jones plays. That would suck to have to watch your RB's handcuff go off against you. I never thought I would see the day LaPorta would be riding the bench, and he wasn't on a bye. I have to give Nick the edge this week, but the margin is thin as the projections show.
Cory vs. Paul
The schedule has been kind to Paul. His 4 and 2 record is a bit fraudulent. The breakdown shows he should be 3-3. This week, he faces another fraud in Cory Shambone. His team just fell apart after Nico went down. This is why it pays to have some depth. The top of the lineup looks excellent for Cory, but his bottom half is a pile of misery. It looks like he will have to start Gisecki at TE. Who knows what crap bench player he will throw into his flex. The Browns D is about to get buried by the Bengals in Cincy. It sucks for me, but it looks like Paul is going to get another win to remain at the top of the Beards.
Ashlyn vs. Steve
What happens when two free squares this season face off? Not much scoring, that is for sure. Mayfield will face a Ravens defense that is a shell of their former self. He should be locked and loaded for 3 TDs. Hunt had a good start, but he isn't fooling anyone. It was a nice feel-good story for him returning to KC, but he faces the Niners front. It's going to be a long day. On the bright side, Steve should get Nabers back from concussion. Ashlyn has Evans to counter Mayfield. With Cooper gone from Cleveland, a ton of targets are open for Njoku to get. Too bad Flacco isn't the QB. Ashlyn is trying to stay alive, but none of her waivers have hit so far. She desperately needs the win, but I am afraid her season will be long over by the time CMC returns. Steve gets new life after another win.
Travis vs. David
Somehow, Travis has two wins—I'm not sure how. He finally gets Chubb back this week, but he shouldn't expect much in his first week. Travis needs a close, high-scoring game between Houston and Green Bay. With Nico out, the action has been narrowed down to Mixon, Diggs, Tank, and Schults. Travis has two of them, so the odds are good that he will be happy with their performance on Sunday. Deebo always gets his. I doubt Jordan Mason plays this week, which means Deebo to the moon! David has a real contender filled with fantasy misfits. Tracy, London, Brian Thomas, Kraft? These were not the names we thought would be high on the fantasy ranks heading into Week 7, but here we are. Losers are going to lose, so Travis gets the L.
Projected Winners:
James
Justin
Nick Paul
Steve
David
