WEEK 5 DEBRIEFING

Overview

Week 5 took the difficulty level up a notch with all the games rescheduled. I thought I had planned ahead by grabbing the Chargers D early who had a great defensive matchup vs the Jets in Week 6. Nope! The NFL reschedules the game for Week 11, so now I have one DST on bye and the other facing the red hot Rodgers. FML. Through it all I am still somehow 3-2 and second in Beards division. Talk about smoke and mirrors.

Another week, another couple of big injuries to Dak and Cook. Paul will be without Cook at least through the Week 7 bye and poor Justin will be without Dak for the rest of the season. I need all the help I can get in Beards Division this year.

Matchups

Dark Lord Commissioner (126.40) vs Roodiculous (115.10)

Watching the 49ers usage of Kittle is maddening. Last week, he rightfully gets a ton of targets even with the 2nd and 3rd string QBs. This week, Jimmy Garbage can't hit the side of a barn yet they keep him in for an entire half. Then they still don't target Kittle in the second half without Jimmy Garbage. Argh! First 4 weeks, it was my RBs stinking it up, in week 5 it was my WRs. I can only hope once I get Adams and Godwin back that maybe my lineup can come together to challenge the better teams this year. It's been a struggle.

Gary's lineup made it closer than I wanted. I had to sweat it out all the way until Tuesday. I would have been so pissed if I lost because of the 2nd Jonnu TD where Tannehill was a yard past the line of scrimmage when he threw the ball. Only reason I won is because the Chiefs D decided to take the week off. I'll take the win to stay in the hunt in Beards Division, but damn it sucked for the Chiefs to lose at home to the Raiders. Come on, Chiefs!

The Jedi Master (116.84) vs Rolling Dunder (107.18)

Odd decision for Krug to start Daniel Jones when he could have started Allen and just designated Jones as the emergency backup in case the game was postponed. He lost on that mistake alone. Then he snoozes on the Thomas news of his 1 game suspension by the team for punching a teammate, supposedly. Rumors are he is going full Antonio Brown on the coaching staff. I bet Krug wouldn't mind punching the Saints for not reporting this suspension sooner.

Even with Krug getting a 0 from Thomas and almost a 0 from Jones, Justin barely beat him. What was once a promising team has now been reduced to a shell of itself with the CMC injury and now Dak's season ending ankle injury. Justin needed this week's win to stay in the hunt while he waits for his savior CMC to return.

Its On Like Donkey Kong (164.36) vs Just Beat Gary (153.10)

Everything is coming up roses for Tracy. I can't tell you how sick that makes me. Watson picked a good time to come back to life! Ridley was the only WR Ryan could find all day and Metcalf is just a beast. He reminds me of Calvin Johnson with his physical manhandling of DBs. Come on, Tracy! It's time to blow up team again. I know you can do it.

As for Jordan, his team did put up a dominate performance once again. It was just bad variance that he faced the high scorer. You can't win them all, but Jordan's team will in most weeks this year.

Check Out My Lightsaber (128.98) vs EW Black (157.14)

Guess I jinxed Paul, again. Shame. It's hard to win playing 8 vs 9. Regardless, Kelce having an elite day propelled Schroeder to the victory. As predicted Tommy Boy was outperformed by Goff and Beckham returned to his usual average output. Steve could of had high score, but left too many points on the bench, as usual.

Paul will have to hope Henderson continues to have the hot hand in the Rams backfield. You just never know which one it will be. So far it's been 2 for Brown and 3 for Henderson, but Akers hasn't yet made it back into the fold. Paul still has the depth to overcome a short absence from Cook, so he will have better weeks ahead.

Mother Tucker (99.82) vs Underestim8ed (130.60)

Dana was praying for another positive Covid test in Tennessee, but alas it didn't happen. Tannehill got to start for Linda and that was the difference between victory for Linda or defeat. Dana is death on WRs this year. Last week it was Julio. This week it's Keenan and Dionte again. We will see if their back issues hold them out next week. Rough times in fantasy for the Tucker family.

Linda keeps cruising along. It's not by luck this year. As long as Zeke and Kamara stay healthy, she has the advantage over the rest of us even when they only combine for 42 points. Her only weakness is at WR, since Metcalf has been dominating so far this year. Lockett looks like his better days are behind him.

Hays Blaze (92.66) vs The Tatooine Twin Suns (90.10)

I am absolutely speechless over my son's luck in fantasy football. No one can lose more games in a row than David. The constant taste of defeat each week has to get old. This week's loss was especially brutal losing by under 3 points. I wish I could say things would turn around, but Drake is dog doodoo. He looks as slow as DJ last year in that offense. Jets want to trade Bell, but had to settle for just dropping him. I know David has been trying to shop Lamar around, but after that clunker of a performance this week I am sure the market isn't so receptive at the moment.

I called the boom/bust nature of Travis' lineup. It was definitely a bust. He was just lucky enough to play David. Stephen Ouchka posted that nice minus 2 and was swiftly booted from the Jaguars. Dak is now out, so who knows how this impacts Cooper whose snaps keep declining for some reason. We will see if the shine has faded on Schultz. With no Chubb to anchor his team, Travis looks like he is posed for some rough weeks ahead.
