Overview
Well, we knew the Season of Covid would make this an especially challenging year to manage a fantasy football team. This week, it has all come to fruition with the Steelers and Titans getting an unexpected and unplanned for early bye week and the Chiefs and Patriots being moved to MNF. For some, this put us in a real bind trying to figure out contingency plans or just how to fill a complete lineup. If that wasn't bad enough. we lost two really good RBs in Ekeler and Chubb with significant injuries. For those of us suffering more than others in the League, hang tight. Don't give up. Keep digging. These things tend to even themselves out over the season.
Matchups
Dark Lord Commissioner (134.72) vs Rolling Dunder (122.60)
All it takes for me to win is to have one of my players to score 40 or more points. I am sure that will happen often this year. Not. Of course Tonyan goes off last night after I dropped him in a rush to get Damien Harris off the RES spot since he was activated. If the game hadn't been postponed, I could have had more time to figure out who was best to drop. But on a Monday, I was in a late evening meeting and forgot that I needed to drop a RB for Damien and not a TE. I am so stupid. I guess it's ok since Tonyan has a bye next week and I have Kittle, but still a dumb move on my part.
Krug took a tough loss against an inept team. Josh Stallion was off to another strong game until he got his left shoulder slammed into the ground. Josh still ended up with almost 30 points. The real hit came with not having Conner this week due to the unforeseen bye week due to Covid. He surely would have beat me if Conner had played. Now he has to pray Conner can stay healthy for 12 straight game. Good luck with that.
The Jedi Master (141.38) vs Roodiculous (154.44)
Rough start for Jedi Justin. He scores the 3rd highest points this week and still loses. No doubt that this is a minor setback for a top team in the League this year. Dak making me look foolish for picking Kyler over him. Either Dak is going to have the all-time greatest season as a QB or there is going to be some regression the rest of the season. Surely he isn't going to throw for 6000+ yards this year?
I am still unsure how Gary won with his QB getting outplayed by 30 points and Ekeler leaving with the injury. I guess when 5 of your players have Top 15 performances, it all adds up in the end. Nice win for Gary to keep pace with Travis.
Its On Like Donkey Kong (106.50) vs EW Black (103.50)
How the hell do you win a game when you have not one, but two players give you a goose egg! Tracy's team isn't the strongest team in Beards. He isn't even the second strongest team, but with close wins in back to back weeks, he takes the early lead in the Beards division. Bite me, Tracy. Ridley's believe it or not was a definite not this week, but Julio only lasted a half before his hammy gave out. We will see if Ridley can Rise Up with opposing defenses now locked in on him as the top threat in the passing game.
It's got to sting to lose by 3 points while seeing 81.86 points sitting on your bench with the GOAT and ODB. It seems my brother has caught my lineup decision disease this year. With another crappy game, Schroeder falls to bottom 2 in points and looks destined to compete for the Crapper. We're making it a family affair this year. Speaking of family affair. Steve earns the Poopsie Award this week.
Check Out My Lightsaber (115.70) vs Just Beat Gary (130.14)
Wow, wow, wow. Look who keeps winning. The new kid on the block, Jordan. It was another ho-hum week for Jordan. He didn't have any players go off for 40 points, but just about every player had double digits. He could of had an even better week if he hadn't traded Andrews for Fant.
Poor Paulie. Not even a 30 point game from Cook could pull out the win. Another casualty of the early Steeler and Titans bye week as both Henry and JuJu had to sit this week. Paul will have better days ahead. He is still the favorite to win the Beards Division.
Mother Tucker (130.64) vs The Tatooine Twin Suns (122.62)
Dana somehow pulled out the win even without her beloved Steeler D this week and her replacement Jaguars getting negative points. It wouldn't have been possible without the breakout game from Mixon. She needed all of his juicy 44 points this week. With Ekeler now injured, we will see if Joshua Kelley can step up to give her team another RB option. With Julio hurt again, she needs some more depth for the weeks ahead.
As for my son, David. Another year. Another disastrous start. If David didn't have bad luck, he wouldn't have any luck at all. It's like he is playing with one hand cut off. If there is anyone who can somehow turn this team around, it's David. He almost came back last year after a 7 game losing streak. Hang in there, son. Keep digging.
Hays Blaze (161.98) vs Underestim8ed (111.20)
The last remaining undefeated team in the League got her rear spanked by the high scorer of the week! I don't think Tannehill would have done any better than Burrow, so can't blame the early bye for this loss. 110s are the floor for Linda's team, so she is still the favorite in the Broads Division strutting out Zeke and Kamara every week.
Neither of Travis' running backs posts double digits and still he passes 160 points this week. It gives me hope if I can ever get my WRs back healthy again. He is clearly dominating the Bros Division even if the record shows him tied with Roo. Imagine if this continues and we have Travis, Linda, and Jordan in the Championship Playoffs. A new day will have dawned in the Beards, Bros, and Broads League. Still a long ways to go though.
