Week 4 Briefing

Updated: Oct 1, 2024

It's week 4 where we start to realize how good or bad our situation is in the battle for the Belt. For Ashlyn and Steve, the odds are bleak, but it is a long season and things change quickly. We've seen 0-4 teams still make the playoffs, so in the immortal words of Commander Quincy Taggart in Galaxy Quest, "Never give up: never surrender!"

The waiver wire was active with Justin looking to old man Rodgers to replace the one-legged Herbert. The streamers were active trying to find a good matchup. My Raiders streamer blew up in my face last week, so back to the well I went. Miami can't do any worse, right? The weekly waiver winner is most likely Cory, who snagged Rico Suavy Dowdle, but I am not sure you really want any of the Cowboys RBs. Speaking of RBs, David picked up Badie ("bidet"). David, you are flirting with the Crapper again rostering a player whose last name sounds like bathroom fixture.

James vs. Steve

With half his team on IR, this should be an easy win. Fantasy isn't fun when you are having to start Kareem Hunt off the streets and Javonte Williams who can't get out of first gear. Not even Tyreek can overcome whomever Miami throws out at QB. The lone bright spot for Steve is Nabirs, but he can't carry the entire roster. After a brutal, self-inflicted loss last week, I need an easy week to reset. Surely not even my terrible lineup decisions can cost me the victory in Week 4.

Travis vs. Justin

The Nex-Tech geeks face-off to see who will be king of the dorks. Justin has enjoyed favorable matchups for Henry, but this week could be a down game considering the high scoring potential against the Bills. It won't hurt Justin, since Conner gets to run through the open borders known as the Commanders defensive line. Justin's draft picks have mostly all hit, so he has good depth to overcome A.J. Brown's absense. I'm not sure Dobbins can hold up all season, but for now Justin is enjoying the ride. I'm not confident Deebo or Mixon will be back this week which means Travis is DOA.

David vs. Jordan

Jordan is due for a win. With Jayden heating up and Najee having the Steeler backfield to himself, the path is cleared for Jordan's first win of the season. The only fly in the ointment is that I picked up Darnold so he will immediately start sucking like Carr did last week. With Allen, anything is possible for David as witnessed last week. But David needs an unlikely bounce back game from Stevenson against the 49ers. It's a huge longshot, but David did get the Vikings DST who have been on fire to start the season. It was a nice waiver wire find I forgot to mention earlier. It will be close, but the regression model says Jordan comes away with the W.

Nick vs. Paul

Now that the newcomers are out of the Broads division matchups, let see how well they do. Big Nick could get Love back which would make for a tough lineup decision between Baker and Love in his first game back against the Vikings D. The achiles heel for Paul is Richardson. After the huge Week 1 performance, Richardson has been a turd. This week he faces the Steelers D. Talk about a suicide mission. This matchup comes down to the Colts vs Steelers game. I trust the Steelers D way more than the Colts O. Big Nick rides to 3-1.

Cory vs. Linda

The match of the week as the current defending champion faces off against the unlikely upstart in a battle of the unbeatens. The projections are neck-and-neck, but I see Cory having an edge with Barkley dominating. I would be shocked if Kittle is back this week. With DeVonte Smith most likely out with the concussion, it will be another huge game for Goedert. That is the edge Cory needs to remain the last unbeaten team in the BBB League. We've seen this before with beginner's luck. Enjoy the success while you can, Cory. I'm coming for you.

Ashlyn vs. Gary

CMC stands for here Commeth My Crapper for Ashlyn. She is battling the unstoppable force that is the curse of the #1 pick in the draft. With no running backs who can put up points, she has to count on Hurts to carry her team. He is hurting her more than helping this year. Her pass catchers are her strength. She will need all of them to score this week to earn her first win this year. I don't see it happening. Gary still sucks, but he gets the free square this week.

Projected Winners:

James

Justin

Jordan

Nick

Cory

Gary
