Week 2 Post-Game Update

Kermit the Kommissioner here reporting on the Week 2 games. It was a wild week for wide receivers! Four of them topped forty points! Tyfreek scored 43, Waddle scored 41, and Amon St. Brown scored 40.40 on Sunday, but Diggs said, "Hold my beer" while scoring 3 TDs to have the top WR score with 45.80 points. Hot Diggity dog! I needed every one of those points to earn my second high score to start the season. It's better to be lucky than good. Speaking of not being good, for the second week in a row, I only went 3-3 in my predictions on who would win. Enough of that. Let's get to the recaps.

Kermit the Kommissioner (James) vs Gonzo the Great (Justin)

148.42 - 140.86

All it takes to win in the Beards division is a high score. Easy peasy. Even in a week when Jonathan Taylor is hardly used, Justin's team still put up over 140 points. Overall it was a down week for the top RBs. None of the keeper RBs scored 20 points in Week 2. They said the Bengals' O-line was improved this year. After two weeks, it is not evident. The Cowboys dominated them resulting in Mixon struggling to get anything going.

I can't say much about RBs since I don't have any. In the long run, this will come back to bite me hard. For now, I can at least enjoy the ride watching my stud WR group go off in the first two weeks. With Pitty Sitty taking the week off, Christian "My Captain" Kirk filled in nicely with 75 yards and 2 TDs. I was digging Diggs's 148-yard 3 TD performance on MNF to give me the Monday Night Miracle. He rewarded my decision in keeping him over Kelce. If Hurts can ever give two halves of fantasy production, it would be great. He scored 31 points in the first half to only finish with 36 points. He didn't need to do much with Prime Time Kirk throwing the ball to the Eagles more than he did to Jefferson. JJ will have better days. Luckily, I didn't need too many from him to get past Justin to start 2-0 in the fiercest division in the League. I needed the head start.

Dr. Honeydew (Travis) vs Animal (Paul)

109.68 - 110.78

Wow! This game came down to the final minutes of MNF. I wasn't the only one lucky this week, as Paul squeaked by Travis when the Eagles gave Sanders some garbage time carries to pad his meager stat line. Sanders's 11.60 points were just enough to push Paul over the top. Once again this year, Paul had a player explode on his bench. This year, it was Tua who threw 6 TDs in a wild comeback over the Ravens. Long gone are the days Baltimore had a good secondary. Oh, Ed Reed, where art thou? Josh Allen didn't make Paul look too bad posting 38.68 points. Thankfully, 3 of his 4 TDs went to my Diggs with no Gabriel Davis this week. Paul was pretty ballsy starting the Titans D versus the Bills offense. It almost cost him a win after they posted -3 points.

It was a tough loss to drop Travis to 0-2. Travis is the only team who has RBs as sucky as mine. Too bad his WR's aren't as good. Hockenson has been horrible, but what can you do at the TE position if you don't have Kelce of Mandrews. Even with Kupp doing kuppian things with 108 yards and 2 TDs, it still wasn't enough as the rest of his roster put up anemic numbers. It's only Week 2, but the season seems stark for the defending Total Points Champion.

Trash to Treasure (Tracy) vs Miss Piggy (Dana)

140.98 - 101.90

Well, Dana put up a stinker this week earning the Poopsie award. It wasn't all her fault. It's easy to do when your QB gets knocked out early with a broken ankle. No one can predict injuries. On the bright side, she can move on from the Trey Lance Experience. Najee put up respectable numbers running on one foot and CEH continues to surprise with another double-digit fantasy week. Her team was just flat all the way around. On a positive note, it looks like Drake London is the real deal to strengthen her WR group. The bad thing for Davante Adams is he has to live by Carr which means he has to die by Carr, too.

For Tracy, it was all about the second coming of Antonio Brown, a.k.a. Amon-Ra St. Brown who is playing like a Sun god! I am so glad Tracy took Dalvin Cook before me in the draft so I could be spared the pain of watching the pedantic performance. You don't mind the injury risk when they are putting up RB1 numbers each week. The injury risk sucks more when they only get 10 touches. On the positive side, he should stay healthier with limited touches. With Mandrews overall TE1 finish this week, it was all he needed to get the win over Dana.

Fozz Squad (David) vs Scooter (Gary)

140.46 - 110.80

David was one of five teams this week to score 140+ points. It was a fierce battle for the high score. The Fozz Squad had one of the few stud RB performances when Aaron Jones ran all over the Bears. This means it will be Dillon's turn next week. David's score was impressive considering Russ can't cook. The 49ers D he sniped from me during the draft feasted on the Seahawks with 2 sacks, 2 interceptions, and a fumble in the near shutout.

As for Gary, I hope he enjoyed his win last week since they will be few this year. He decided to not go with the Chief's super stack against the Chargers. Too bad he picked the wrong WR which will probably be the case most times the way Mahomes is distributing the ball. It was the prime reason I went with Diggs over Kelce as my keeper. I know Kelce will still be a Top 3 TE most likely, but his ceiling has come down from his heyday as the dominant TE1 in fantasy. A bright spot for Gary is Robinson who has looked amazing after returning from the Achilles injury. He is an outlier that Gary really needs to help him be competitive this season.

Elmo (Jordan) vs BoBo the Bear (Steve)

152.82 - 127.52

I thought my brother was going to get the high score this week and beat Jordan. I guess I jinxed him when I texted him the same. I also think my brother has a great roster and will make the playoffs this year. I guess I've doomed him to the Crapper now. What's not to love about his team? Stud QB with Herbert. Stud RBs in Chubb and Swift. Solid WRs in Williams and Deebo with an emerging Curtis Samuel. There's a lot to like about his team. It just came down to not trusting Swift's ankle and the Joseph getting no opportunities for FGs.

Jordan is off to a hot start averaging 148 points per game just behind me at 152 points per game. We stand alone as the last undefeated teams in the League after just 2 weeks. Jordan needs to enjoy the wins while Kyler is still healthy or until the next Call of Duty comes out whichever comes first. The only reason he emerged victorious this week was due to Tyfreak's ridiculous 43 points, but that's what Tyreek can do for you. CMC broke 100 yards, but Baker still is not utilizing his best weapon to his full ability in the passing game. Barkley got 25 touches but wasn't able to do much with them in Week 2.

Abby (Ashlyn) vs Janice (Linda)

134.42 - 113.36

No shock here. If it wasn't for Waddle, Lamar may have outscored Linda's entire team! Even with Albert 0 giving Ashlyn a donut, she easily outclassed Linda's team. With Burrows's O-line doing him no favors, she may have to get desperate and play Wentz until things improve. Ewwww. To pour salt in the womb, both Schults and Jeudy left with injuries that probably will require some missed games for both. TDP also will miss several weeks with a high ankle sprain so back to the waivers he goes.

The Rookie took a tough loss last week but got her first win on another solid 134-point output. She inherited her dad's lineup yips with both Montgomery and Robinson outperforming Carter, Hunt, and Henry. There's a rookie lesson in there about not chasing points. It happens to the best of us. There are 3 strong teams in the Broads division this year. Then there is Linda. It will be interesting to see which two emerge for the Championship playoff.

BBB Survivor

After two weeks, only four out of the ten players remain alive. This week, four teams were eliminated. David, Ashlyn, Paul, and I were eliminated. Ashlyn and I had the Bengals. David had Washington. Paul had the Browns. Dana and Linda advance with the Broncos. Justin with GB. Travis with Rams. Good luck in Week 3.
