Overview
Many of our worst fears came true this week as we watched stud after stud go down to serious or season ending injuries. This is truly a season filled with the dark side. Many of our teams are suffering or will be suffering in the weeks to come. Is there a new hope waiting to rise from the waiver wire? Only time willtell. For now, let's pause to mourn the following players whom we've lost.
Matchups
Dark Lord Commissioner (84.64) vs Its On Like Donkey Kong (151.00)
Tracy the Hutt had the last laugh this week when he acquired Ridley out from under me from Dana and then proceeded to pummel me in points. I knew it was going to be tough without Kittle and Godwin, but geez I wasn't expecting low score of the week. So this week I give myself the new weekly Poopsie Award for low score. It's only a coincidence that the Poopsie looks like the Hutt.
The Jedi Master (182.70) vs Check Out My Lightsaber (135.02)
After last week's tough loss to the Dark Lord Commissioner, Jedi Justin's team put on a clinic to get high score this week. It wasn't all good as he lost both CMC for several weeks and Courtland Sutton. Smooth Kenny G can't get back soon enough, since Gallup somehow only got 3 catches in a monster come back victory against the Falcons. I thought I was going to have to add Josh Jacobs to the list of players lost, but he did finish the game if not 100%.
As for Wicket, it was a great points day having the 4th highest points on the week. At least his team has avoided the injury plague so far which isn't good for me next week when Paul looks to smash me again this year.
Mother Tucker (131.08) vs Rolling Dunder (135.88)
Even after his QB put up 46+ points, Krug had to be sweating while the Saints D kept letting the Raiders score in Roomba stadium. Like many, the win came with a cost as he lost Mostert and Shepard this week. That's 4 players in 2 weeks. Special K, enjoy the win while you can. It could be awhile before your next one.
Dana didn't have the best of birthdays this week. She's been feeling bad all week. We couldn't find any campgrounds open to sneak off for a weekend RV and hiking adventure. Then her fantasy team came up short. Oh, Julio. If only you didn't drop that would be TD pass. Oh, Dana. if only you didn't trade the wrong Atlanta wide receiver. Her team is trending up with Joshua Kelley getting more involved, Diontae Johnson looking like a stud, and also acquiring Fournette in a trade with me much to my lament afterwards.
Hays Blaze (168.10) vs Roodiculous (112.98)
After earning the Poopsie Award last week, Travis storms back with the 2nd most points this week. With JT emerging as another stud RB option in Indy, Travis is poised to challenge for the Bros division title. Travis does have a glaring hole at TE. I told you Gronk was old an busted.
Jonnu Smith has been on a tear for Gary. Ekeler came back to life with Hebert. If SD was smart, they would stick with the rookie. Not like the Chargers are going to win anything this year. Which goes for Gary, too.
EW Black (108.58) vs Just Beat Gary (140.38)
Congrats to Jordan for earning his first win in the BBB. But really it's hard to lose when your RB scores 47+ points! Just to rub it in, he also has the waiver wire RB gem so far this year in James Robinson. Jordan has to wonder where Will Fuller disappeared to. Rumor has it Fuller has a hamstring injury. Here is my shocked face.
My brother got snookered by Sammy. You would think he would know better being a Chiefs fan...SMH. Tom Terrific has turned into Tommy Terrible. Steve's QBs are his weak link. Maybe he should have traded Fant for a better QB! Daniel Jones won't be helping him the next couple weeks with his schedule. On the bright side, Miles Sanders returned and had a very good game to solidify his RB1 position.
Underestim8ed (169.36) vs The Tatooine Twin Suns (119.96)
David is off to his normal slow start. Hopefully it won't be as bad as 2018 when he started 0-7, but it may be worse after losing Barkley for the season. Something tells me Lamar is on the block if the price is right. A QB needy team comes to mind and they already made a trade this year with him.
Linda is the QB whisperer. Both her QBs had huge days. Zeke may not get the 40+ point games, but he is so consistent posting 20+ games it's almost automatic. While her starters are solid her bench is pretty anemic, so she better hope the injury bug doesn't pay her a visit.
