Week 2 Briefing

Updated: 4 days ago

After the Week 1 casualties, a few teams needed to call in reinforcements from the waiver wire.

Steve - Chargers (nice streaming D for Week 2)

Ashlyn - Juwan Johnson (desperation)

David - Justice Hill (long-term flyer)

Nick - Mayfield (chasing points), Boswell (it's a kicker), Demarcus Robinson (flyer)

Cory - Jaleel McLaughlin (nice RB upside)

Justin - Colby Parkinson (who?)

Steve - Likely (Nice use of the.#1 waiver)

James - Lockett (need some depth), McLaughlin (it's a kicker)

James vs. Pee Pee Perez

Pee Pee has a scrappy team. With JJ and Garrett anchoring this roster, this won't be a cake walk. I'm still going to win, because I am going to get another high score. I expect Jordan's squad to have one of the better outputs for the year, but my starting unit is special forces elite as long as CMC and Puka are sidelined. There isn't a weakness from top to bottom. It's looking like another hot start for the Commish. I just have to avoid the urge to blow it up this year.

Justin vs. Paul

This should be a close matchup, but Paul has Pollard on the bench for Christian Kirk. Come on, man! Stop being a projection p*ssy, Paul. You need the upside. Kirk only plays in 3 WR sets. SMH. Justin took the tough loss last week. This week, he regroups and rebounds with a solid win. His only weakness is at TE, but Justin has proved his intel is solid so Parkinson will probably work out well for him.

Linda vs Steve

Like his team, Steve took a tumble and busted up his knee. Javonte is looking like an early bust, but it's only been 1 week. Linda has her own injury to deal with. With Miami playing on TNF, it is too soon to know if Achane will play. This makes projecting the winner difficult. She could get lucky and have Walker ruled out which would be a boon for Charbonnet. Burrow is going to get buried at Arrowhead and Watson isn't worth a bench spot. With suspect QB play, I am going out on a limb and will pick Steve to win, but if Achane plays and Walker sits, the matchup easily could go Linda's way. She is known as Lucky Linda for a reason.

David vs Gary

The perpetual pooper, Gary, will see if he can break 100 points this week. Diggs got 2 TDs last week and Gary's team was still the worst. Both of these teams have elite field generals in Allen and Mahomes. The strength at RB and WR look pretty even, but Keenan probably should be swapped for Robinson for more upside since Keenan isn't 100% with the heel injury. I think this will be a Tank Dell week which will give David the edge in a close matchup.

Travis vs Nick

Nick is chasing TDs with Mayfield. The Detroit D is much improved. But with Love out and the QB market thin, you get what you get. No CMC means more touches for Deebo. The Red Cross see fewer injuries than Travis' bench. He is living dangerously, but he has enough firepower in his starting lineup. It's going to be a rough start for PhatNick. McLaurin is bogged down with a running QB so there aren't enough targets to be fantasy relevant. His bench doesn't have any better options so he has to ride or die. Nick is going to be roadkill.

Cory vs Ashlyn

The curse of CMC. Nothing hurts worse than your #1 pick not playing to start the season. Apparantly, the injury was a bit more problematic than they let on during the pre-season. Go figure. Things just get worse for Ashlyn with Mostert out and Jake Ferguson also likely out this week. Cory is getting the easy path to start the season. We will see how he fairs when he faces real competition after divisional play.

Projected Winners:

James

Justin

Steve

David

Travis

Cory
