WEEK 11 MATCHUP BRIEFING

Situation

Last week of non-divisional games. It's been a crazier year than normal. Between major injuries to star players to dealing with Covid, it's been rough for some of you. My #1 goal for this League is for everyone to have fun regardless of winning or losing. This is our 6th year and I think the League is better than ever! If you have an idea for how to make the league more fun and/or more balanced, let the League know. Losing is never fun, especially if you think there is no way to improve year to year.

If I had to make a recommendation, it would be to switch to FAAB (Free Agent Acquisition Budget). Each week, everyone has a chance to pick up that key waiver wire player based on the amount they bid for him. You start with a set dollar amount for each team, e.g. $100. Once you use up your FAAB money, waivers revert to your waiver priority. Waiver priority is always trumped by another team who uses FAAB to bid for the player. If two teams tie on the bid, then it goes to waiver priority. I think switching to FAAB would make the League better by allowing poorer teams early to have an equal chance of acquiring players to improve their team. It also adds another layer of strategy to the game. Do you spend big early or do you save FAAB dollars for later in the season? In the Leagues I am in that use FAAB, it does improve the quality and experience. Let me know your thoughts?

I wish there was a method on NFL.com to have rolling waivers. Currently, once waivers have processed, Free Agents can just be grabbed based on who can get to their computer or phone first. This puts some teams in the League at a disadvantage. I want everyone to have as much of an equal opportunity in the League. Other fantasy sites, like Sleeper, have this rolling waiver option. We would have to switch fantasy sites if the League wants to have rolling waivers where there are no FA's. After each waiver period, the remaining players remain on waivers. This allows everyone the opportunity to get a waiver bid in. For those who tested out the Sleeper fantasy app last year, let me know if you think having more flexibility with waivers would make switching sites beneficial.

These are the two ideas I have to making the League better for 2021; switch to FAAB and switch to Sleeper to have rolling waivers. This would level set the playing field for acquiring players off waivers. Think about it. I will post a League vote at the end of the year along with any other suggestions you may have.

Now on to the Matchup Briefings.

Intelligence

Dark Lord Commissioner vs Just Beat Gary

My day of reckoning has come. This week I face Jordan the Juggernaut. Jordan continues to work over the League for elite players. My brother isn't as stupid as me to trade a #1 player at their position. Oops. I am sure Adams will post another 40 burger in my face! I believe Aaron Jones has the talent of a top NFL RB. They just refuse to give him the Bell Cow touches. Frustrating, but I am not the only one in that position. *cough* Sanders *cough* There isn't much to say about this matchup. I just have to take the ass kicking that is coming. My only hope is for Paul and Tracy to also lose this week and I score more points than Tracy. Eesh. Never a good strategy to rely on others losing so you can win.

The Jedi Master vs EW Black

At this point, it's just a matter of whether it will be Justin or me being relegated to the Bros division. Considering my brother is bottom four in points, this game is a closer matchup than I had expected. Both their lineups look optimized for this week. With that being said, I agree with the NFL projections that Steve has a slight advantage now that he has Kelce back. At least Steve can't make another bad lineup decision at QB, since he has just one QB rostered now. Brady should be Top 5 ROS with the weapons he has. My brother does need to fix having 6 WRs on his roster! We need to start having a penalty for roster violators. I swear.

Check Out My Lightsaber vs Mother Tucker

Dana faces a tough matchup against Paul. NFL has this as a close matchup. I don't see it. Dallas D isn't going to contain Dalvin. A struggling Wilson is still better than Cam the Scam, but Cam does have a good matchup this week. As soon as Dana starts RoJo, it will be a Fournette week. Two weeks ago a fumble cost RoJo snaps. Last week a fumble didn't cost him anything. Who knows how Arians will roll. For Dana to pull off the upset, her team has to perform at the top limit of her team's variance while Paul's has to perform at the bottom limit. Those are very bad odds.

Underestim8ed vs Rolling Dunder

I need to check if Krug's 8 game losing streak is the longest in League history. Yes, yes it is! The previous longest losing streak was by David with 7 losses to start the 2017 season. Way to set the bar to a new low, Krug. They say sh*t rolls downhill, so I guess your team name should be Rolling Deuce.

Linda needs this win to keep close to Jordan on record. You would think Kamara will be a boom with Winston, but Winston can literally throw a game away. Winston hurts MT more than Kamara anyways. Hines has been a PPR gem, but you wonder how long it can last. I didn't do an injury summary for last week in the Debrief, but Lockett suffered a knee sprain. He had his big game, so will be MIA for the next two games. The Lazard King should return, but it may take a game for him to shake off the rust and get back on page with Rodgers. I am rooting for a big Lazard game to reduce Adams blow to me. I think Dunder continues rolling towards the Crapper.

Its On Like Donkey Kong vs Hays Blaze

Travis gets to face Tracy after he has torn down his team. Will Carson play this week? It's anyone's guess, but I say no. Tracy's quick trigger on Ahmed paid off, but Nall not so much. Without Carson, Tracy's RBs look as bad as mine earlier in the year. Not good.

With McKissic getting double digit targets with Alex Smith, Travis has a potent combo with Chubb and McKissic. Gronk almost seems a lock a TD which is all you need to have a top 10 TE these days. As much as I hate to do it, I think Travis is the favorite this week which means I will have jinxed him against Tracy. Damn me!

King of the Crapper vs Roodiculous

David isn't the King of the Crapper just yet. He does need to pick up a kicker, though. Gary has his own losing streak having lost the last 6 in a row. With Hebert facing the Jets, this streak should come to an end. Drake is back in the fold getting plenty of volume. I hated to see it as I needed Edmonds to break out which he didn't. JJ (Justin Jefferson) continues to be DYNOMITE! The other JJ (Judge Jeudy) is no slouch himself. This has been the year of the rookie wide receiver! This is such an outlier historically for fantasy. Usually rookie wide receivers do little. We should have known. It's 2020.

I will assume David will start Zeke and Damien over Lindsay and Edwards. Regardless, David is a dog in this matchup. It's hard to tell at the moment who has the worst team out of the bottom four. It's a week to week proposition. This week David's team is crappier than Gary's.
