My fellow Leaguemates, I am happy to report the League is competitive. As we enter our annual second round of divisional games, only one team (Steve) has secured their Championship playoff spot, and only one team (Travis) has secured their Crapper playoff spot. The rest are up for grabs in the final three weeks of the regular season.
It is a tragedy two teams from the Beards division will not have a chance at the Belt. All four teams will finish with a .500 or better record. I took a tough loss to Steve to drop to second place. It's a rare year where the current total points leader may not make the Championship playoffs.
In the Broads division, once again, the 2nd place team may sneak into the playoffs with a losing record. It happened last year, and we know how that ended. Dana and Ashlyn have won two straight to keep their hopes alive as Linda drops two. Three ladies fighting for one spot.
Such is the relegation system. It's an elegant system that enables lesser teams to have an opportunity for the Belt. Some may not agree with this affirmative action approach, but here we are with ten teams battling to finish in the top two of their division for the five remaining Championship playoff spots.
As a reminder, seeding isn't based on divisional finish but on total points. Usually, the division winner has the most points, but that may not be the situation this season. The current total points leader may not even make the Championship playoffs. Imagine that.
The trade deadline is this coming week, November 24, 2023. With six NFL teams on bye in Week 13 and 2 teams on bye in Week 14, playoff spots could come down to roster management. Make sure you look ahead and plan accordingly. The waiver wire is looking pretty bare right now.
Until next week, may the odds be ever in your favor.
