Kommissioner's Korner - Week 9

Hi Ho! The first bye-pocalypse of the season is here with 6 teams on bye. This has left many of us scrambling to fill the required starters. The NFL was trading like it was fantasy football. Unfortunately, the Chiefs didn't improve their defensive line instead trading for Toney. Now that we are more than halfway through the season, the cream is starting to rise to the top. Dumb and dumber are leading the way as the #1 and #2 teams. Too bad since they both looked good sitting on the Crapper in past drafts. This week, there are a lot of close matchups. I've been stuck at 4-2 in my predictions for the past two weeks. I'm not feeling confident I will improve this week. Good luck to everyone, now on to the predictions.

Kermit the Commissioner (James) vs Janice (Linda)

Part of the reason for my trade with Ashlyn was to group my bye weeks to when I played Linda and Jordan. I figured I could still beat Linda even with 5 players on bye and I figured I was unlikely to beat Jordan even if I was at full strength. It was better that I will be stronger during the other weeks. I was not counting on Chase getting injured. With him out, it is making this matchup with Loser Linda far closer than I would like it to be. I have concerns that King Henry could get nerfed if the Chiefs get out to a big lead similar to what happened to Henry in Week 2 vs the Bills. Lamar just hasn't been his elite self without a healthy Andrews and Bateman. Bateman is done for a while and Andrews is still beat up. The Saints D is due for a rebound after some bad efforts recently. This matchup feels like a trap. Jamaal Williams is the new bell cow in Detroit. Coaches talking about regretting giving Swift 5 carries. Sheesh. Hilliard could outscore Henry if the Titans fall behind. I am hoping Malik stunts his upside. Chicago just traded their two best defensive players, so Waddle will go off with no pass rush on Tua. Doubs faces a putrid Lions D. It's all lining up for Linda.

Prediction: James gets humiliated with defeat to Loser Linda.

Animal (Paul) vs Fozzy the Bear (David)

Paul and David's teams are closely matched this week. It's a toss-up. After a tough loss in Week 8, Paul needs to rebound. Josh Allen is back from bye to lead the charge. DJ Moore has been resurrected from the grave with PJ at QB. DK is a machine. Kelce has a good matchup versus the Titans so he should get multiple TDs this week. Fournette has been cooling off for David, but Ettiene is red hot. David does have Diggs to offset Allen's points since Diggs should get the majority of the targets. Kyler has a prime matchup versus the Seahawks. Only Call of Duty can deter Murray from having a great game. The Hockenson trade could hurt David this week as he gets up to speed with a new playbook. I think that is the difference this week.

Prediction: Paul pushed past David for the win.

Dr. Honeydew (Travis) vs Oscar the Grouch (Tracy)

Another close matchup between a Beards division and Bros division team. Both teams still need to pick up a DST to play. Both their starting QBs on bye, with both Tracy and Travis' QBs are suspect. Now that the divorce is final, maybe TB12 can get his groove back but he faces a Rams DST that has been good versus QBs. Jacobs should rebound from the Raiders' collapse last week versus a porous Jags run D. Travis should get Patterson back from IR, but how effective will he be in his first week back? Kupp got his ankle rolled up late last week and Keenan is just returning full-time from his hammy injury. That's a lot of uncertainty of outcomes for Travis. Tracy should get a boost for Amon-Ra with Hockenson out of the picture.

Prediction: Tracy tip-toes past Travis for the victory

Abby (Ashlyn) vs Gonzo the Great (Justin)

The Rookie hasn't gotten many breaks in her matchups in her first year. She could use one this week versus Justin. Hurts has been on fire all season. Aaron Jones has finally started to feast and has the perfect matchup versus the Lions. She has a tough lineup decision to make whether to trust Pittman with the new QB against the Patriots DST or go with Kirk in a good matchup versus the Raiders or Jakobi Meyers vs the Colts. One lesson she has learned so far is that whoever you pick to start will be the wrong one. A lineup decision she won't get wrong this week is at TE since Big Irv is on IR now. Hopefully, this week Hurts throws all the TDs to receivers other than A.J. Brown.

Prediction: Ashlyn overcomes her lineup decisions to beat Justin

BoBo the Bear (Steve) vs Scooter (Gary)

After his beatdown last week, Steve is going to get another whack on his butt this week. Gary's team is locked and loaded. Mahomes is better than Herbert. Ekeler and Mostert are better than Swift and Singletary, especially with the Bills trading for Hines. Boyd, JuJu, and Thielen are better than McLaurin, Samuel, and Campbell. In just about every position in the lineup, Gary is better. With such an advantage at all the core positions, Gary can afford to start the Titans D versus the Chiefs. It's not going to matter. Gary can beat Steve with 8 players.

Prediction: Gary goes off against the Bear

Elmo (Jordan) vs Miss Piggy (Dana)

This prediction isn't about who will win. That will be Jordan. The question is by how much and whether he scores more than 200 points again this week. Will Dana score above her average of 101 ppg? Jordan could easily score twice as many points as Dismal Dana this week. Jordan is on auto-pilot until Week 16.

Prediction: Dismal Dana's team takes a dump
