Kommissioner's Korner - Week 13

Hi Ho! Two more weeks to go. It's going to be interesting to see who emerges for the final 4 Championship playoff spots. Everyone is bunched up. Injuries and byes will have a huge impact on which teams emerge. I was hoping three of the Tuckers could make it, but the trend is going against David and Ashlyn, so it looks like I may be the only one. Davis is in danger of falling from 1st in his division all the way down to the Crapper playoff. Ashlyn is safe from the Crapper due to her high total points. Good luck to everyone. Ashlyn and I will be at the Bengals/Chiefs game, freezing our butts off as we root for each of our teams. Go Chiefs!

Kermit the Commissioner (James) vs Gonzo the Great (Justin)

I'm conflicted. No one wants to see Justin back in the Championship playoff. However, if I beat Justin, that helps Paul and Travis. Since I've clinched 1st I don't need the win other than to pad my BBB league record for total wins. So I decided to take the hit this week at defense and dropped the Eagles for the Jaguars, who face the Texans in Week 17. I already stashed the Titans' DST, who play the Texans in Week 16. Overthinking? Probably. You need every positional advantage you can during the playoffs, where anything can happen. As for this week's matchup, Rodgers traditionally owns the Bears, but he is pretty banged up. He says he will play. We saw what Josh Jacobs did with a calf injury in a good matchup. Even with busted ribs and thumb, Rodgers will throw 3 TDs against the Bears. If the Colts are smart they will lean on JT versus a tough Dallas D. Smart they are not. At least Brian Robinson looks to be getting stronger again. Who knows how the split will go with Gibson? A.J. Brown is due for a bounce-back game, but Hurst's role is due to diminishing with Chase returning. My biggest decision is at flex. If Fournette is out again, I will go with White. If not, Aiyuk it is. I should win this matchup easily, but the fantasy gods will punish me for my hubris at DST.

Prediction: James gets cursed. Justin squeezes out a must-win.

BoBo the Bear (Steve) vs Elmo (Jordan)

Jordan's team has been underperforming lately. 120 points are sub-standard for Jordan this year. Tua has a tough matchup against the 49ers. CMC is nursing a sore knee, so the 49ers may want to limit his touches even more. K9 will feast against a Rams team that lost Donald. With Jordan having the 49ers D, it will limit the upside. If Miami's offense booms, it likely means his DST busts. The Pats face the Bills, which isn't a good matchup either, but at least there is more upside with the Pats, and Allen has been prone to interceptions lately. Steve has some sweet matchups. Herbert versus the Raiders? Oh myyyy! Chubb vs. the Texans? Yessssss! Christian Watson vs. the Bears? Boom. Cowboys DST vs. Matt Ryan? Tasty. The stars are finally aligning for Steve to make the Championship playoffs.

Prediction: Steve makes a statement in the win over Jordan.

Janice (Linda) vs Abby (Ashlyn)

"Almost but not quite" it will be again for Ashlyn. She will have mixed emotions at the Bengals game, watching her favorite player, Burrow, lighting up the Chiefs' secondary and helping Linda against her. Monty will come up lame now that she decides to start him. Lawrence has a new crush on Zay Jones. Kirk was so last month. Who did Linda pick up last week? Zay Jones. Oof. Evans has taken a back seat to Godwin, and he isn't even getting the red zone looks anymore. She didn't forget about her DST this week, returning to her formula of picking up whoever faces the Texans. This week it's the Browns.

Prediction: Ashlyn slides to the bottom of the Broads with another loss.

Miss Piggy (Dana) vs Oscar the Grouch (Tracy)

Dana is fighting off relegation back to the Broads. Now that we have three ladies in the League, maybe we should have all three of them remain in the Broads division permanently. It will probably happen anyways next year. Dana has to hope Jimmy G is forced to keep pace with Miami, but the 49ers D is good enough to keep Miami in check. She picked up Snell if Najee can't go this week. Not great, but desperate times call for desperate players to start. With Mixon likely to return, Perine may still be a viable start as the pass catcher in a game where a lot of points should be scored. She's going to need another monster game from Davante to have a chance, but Tracy has Carr, so if Adams goes off, then Carr likely does, too. The Raiders are resting Jacobs all week in hopes he can carry them again against the Chargers. Homerism seems to be working in the League this year, with Tracy starting 3 Raiders and Gary with his Chiefs super stack whenever possible. Dana's winning streak comes to an end against the Trashman.

Prediction: Tracy relegated Dana back to the Broads.

Animal (Paul) vs Dr. Honeydew (Travis)

Paul isn't dead yet. His Bucs D faces the Saints, who were shut out last week. Myers should have plenty of opportunities for FGs versus the Rams. His flex is weak with Dillon, but if Love starts, the Packers may rely more on the ground-and-pound method. Sanders will find it harder to run on against the Titans' front. But, no Conner...no chance. Travis' team is ready to roll, even if it is a little too late. Keenan is back in prime form. Zeke gets the TDs. Damien Harris got hurt again. Stevenson will get a ton of work against the Bills.

Prediction: Travis keeps his hopes alive to stay in the Beards division.

Fozzy the Bear (David) vs Scooter (Gary)

Heinicke vs Mahomes. Hmmm. This one isn't hard to figure out. David's time at the top of the Bros division comes to an end with a massive loss to Gary. The injuries have just been too many for David to keep up. Both Fournette and Etienne are big ifs if they will play. If both don't, then David will have to drop one of his RBs for another RB who is active. Brutal.

Prediction: The Chiefs' super stack attack takes Gary to the top of the Bros division.
